SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Former Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. (0293.HK) Chief Executive Tony Tyler has been appointed as head of the International Air Transport Association with effect from next month, the airline industry body said Tuesday.
Tyler, who retired from Cathay Pacific in March, will take over as IATA's director-general and chief executive starting July 1, when incumbent Giovanni Bisignani steps down, IATA said in a statement.
IATA represents 230 carriers from 118 countries that account for 93% of international scheduled air traffic worldwide.
