Emirates Airline announces launch of new destinations

The Emirates Airline has announced the launch of three new European destinations for this year. The new services will be to Geneva, Copenhagen and St. Petersburg, said Badr Abbas, Vice-President Emirates Pakistan, here on Thursday.

He said that Geneva was added to the airline’s European network on June 1 and will be followed by services to Copenhagen from August 1 and to St. Petersburg from November 1.

He said that Geneva is serving as Emirates’ second gateway into Switzerland after Zurich. Badr stated that the launch of the destination was spurred by a strong demand for both leisure and business travel from around the world including Pakistan.

He said Geneva is a major financial centre and the airline expects a steady growth in passenger traffic to the destination. Following the launch of Geneva, Copenhagen will become the 114th destination for Emirates Airline worldwide and 27th destination in Europe.

Badr was of the view that with strong trading traditions for both Geneva and Copenhagen, the launch of the additional flights will open up and provide easy connections to previously untapped markets for businesses in Pakistan. He also highlighted that Emirates has risen to the prestigious ranks as one of the top international airlines which has been accomplished as a result of adopting and encouraging fair competition, transparency and an open skies policy.
